The importance of case erector machines to your production line

When you are mass producing a product that you ship out to stores, homes, or warehouse, those products are usually put into boxes, usually referred to as cases. Although sometimes they are called cartons and sometimes on a bad day they are called other things which are not nice. What they are called roughly translates to doggone nuisance. Without automatic case erectors, cases can become the slowest and most frustrating part of the whole process. CheckĀ contact-packaging.co.uk for the best case erector.

Erecting cases

Erecting cases should not be a big deal. The cases arrive at the plant flat, and somebody unflattens them and makes them three-dimensional so that products can be put inside. In most situations, there will be a machine for loading the cases. As long as the cases are nice and square and in the right position on the conveyor belt, everything will go fine.

Somebody just has to make sure there is a case there when the machine is ready to put something in it. How hard could that be? Actually, unflattening cases is not a job that human beings are well adapted to do. They don’t have enough hands to do it well. They have to turn the case upside down so it’s resting on it’s upper flaps so they can put the tape across the bottom. Resting on its flaps can bend the flaps, or it can cause the case to be unsteady while the tape is being applied. If the case is unsteady, the case may not be properly squared when the tape is applied.

Case erectors are more efficient than human

There are machines that are slightly better than having people erect the cases by hand. They involve having someone who is bored stand by a big stack of flat cases and feed them one at a time into the case opener-upper. It’ better than nothing but still not very efficient.

It’s fast

If your company has an automated system for manufacturing and packaging and labeling your product why abandon automation when you get to the shipping department? Slow is slow whether it’s at the front of the assembly line or going out the door. If you have products stacking up waiting to be packed into shipping cases your system isn’t working efficiently.

Saves time

hhd764If you have to stop the assembly line to wait for the packing room to catch up, time is being wasted. Nobody needs to be reminded that in business time equals money. If your business can be made more efficient with the aid of automatic case erectors, then it would probably be a good idea to get some.
